A 55-year-old woman is in a critical condition after allegedly receiving serious head injuries during an argument with another woman in the Karratha suburb of Peg’s Creek.

Karratha Detectives allege that the victim was consuming alcohol with the other woman, who is known to her, about 5.30pm Sunday when they became involved in a verbal and physical altercation.

It is alleged that during that altercation she sustained serious head injuries.

The victim was rushed to Karratha Health Campus for treatment and has since been flown to a Perth hospital, where her condition remains critical.

Karratha Detectives have charged the other woman, 41, from Peg’s Creek, with grievous bodily harm over the incident.

She appeared in Karratha Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The police investigation into the matter is ongoing.
