A school in regional WA has taken dance lessons to a different level.
Students from a Year 5/6 class at Geraldton’s Wandina Primary School have built, customised and coded robots based on the popular Star Wars character R2D2.
Adding a bit of music, the students made these fantastic creations dance, before learning how to make a movie of the exploits.
Wandina Primary School deputy principal Michael Ostaszewskyj said the project was part of the school’s BYO iPad program.
“All of our kids bring these devices to school and as part of the WA curriculum we need to teach them how to use it,” he said.
“The children are asked to build the droid, code it and then customise it to their liking.
“This time they were asked to code the droids to dance.”
Mr Ostaszewskyj said the project was “highly engaging” for all the students.
“Even those that do not want to engage in school, they love using robotics,” he said.
