South West Community Care will soon need to purchase a display unit for their awards, with chief executive officer Claire Roach adding a new recognition award to the collection.
At the HESTA Aged Care Awards, Harvey resident Ms Roach, pictured, was named one of five finalists in the Individual Distinction category.
As the only finalist from Western Australia, Ms Roach was thrilled with her achievement.
“I felt really proud to be one of the five finalists in Australia,” she said.
“We try to give people really good quality of life right up until the very end so they can do what they want to do rather than feel they have to give their life up.
“This award is good recognition for our organisation and what we do.”
Ms Roach was recognised for leading the expansion of SWCC over the last 14 years.
“I have been building up this organisation since I got here,” she said.
“When I first started working here in 2006 we had about 50 clients, where as now we have up to 1000 across the South West.”
“Aged care is a growing area and it is absolutely critical.
“I am very passionate about it and know everybody that works here is too, and that is so important in this industry.”
