When Avengers: Endgame is released next Wednesday it will be the culmination of a 22-film, 11-year odyssey by Marvel Studios that has earned $19 billion at the box office.
Opening day will also reveal the role Perth actress Katherine Langford scored in the film, something that has been shrouded in secrecy since rumours of her casting emerged late last year.
The former Perth Modern student was nominated for a Golden Globe for playing Hannah Baker in 13 Reasons Why but appearing in the most anticipated superhero movie yet could elevate Langford to the upper echelon of Hollywood.
Endgame is the sequel to last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, the fourth-highest grossing movie in history, and the directors of both movies, Anthony and Joe Russo, have declined to discuss which character Langford plays in the film.
In the absence of information, online fan forums are full of theories, with some suggesting Langford could play Mistress Death, an eternal being in the comic books. Or she could be the daughter of Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow’s characters, Tony Stark and Peppa Potts, from a future timeline, or a new female Hawkeye.
