Ten has lost a strong line-up of US TV shows from its schedule following failed negotiations with studio giant 21st Century Fox.

Emmy award-winning sitcom Modern Family, NBC drama This Is Us and long-running animated series The Simpsons, which has aired on Ten since 1991, are among popular shows that have been dropped from Ten’s schedule.

Other Fox shows that will no longer be aired by the network include Futurama and re-runs of MASH and Malcolm in the Middle, which aired on Ten’s subsidiary channels.

Reports have also emerged that Fox is still open to re-negotiating a deal with Ten or other free-to-air networks such as Seven or Nine.

The news comes in the wake of last month’s announcement that the ailing network would be thrown another lifeline after US network CBS won takeover rights, a deal that is yet to be finalised.

A spokesperson for Ten wouldn’t comment on the fallout but said: “Fox content is not playing on Network Ten at this stage.”
