Barry ‘Bazz’ Harris started life in Hoboken, New Jersey in the US of A.
Son of Ronald and Louise simple 5th generation Carney Folk who travelled the States getting into adventures with their 3 little dogs Lucy, Edwood and Ticky named on the count of her being covered in the mites when found, big brother to Len, Scott and Kelly and father to Ali ‘I like to run big phone bills up’ Harris and Uncle to Conner, Breadon, Chelsea, Emily and Tilly...
Life was hard growing up in a circus and quite terrifying if you don’t like clowns (that’s another story) I was often dangled from the trapeze and made to clean the monkey cages and for a long time thought I was part of their family...
In the early 1970’s at the age of 4, I left the Carney folk who nurtured me so badly and headed out on my own, living a life of crime, hitting the parks and playgrounds stealing others kids play lunches and pretending my parents had lost me...
Learning from the school of hard knocks I got my first gig in a TV commercial pedalling a three wheel tricycle for Happy Wheels, at the age of 10, I hitched a ride on a King Crab boat out of Alaska and made my way to Australia. At the age of 15, I got my first radio gig after requesting the Bee Gee’s Tragedy...Then fast forwarding to today and the bet I lost that lead me to be living in Karratha, living the dream and loving the Pilbara and people who live here.

West Aussie? Through and through! Darren was born in Geraldton, raised in Perth and learned to drive in Bunbury. That means that he’s almost guaranteed to pronounce the suburbs and towns correctly when he’s on Telethon.
He’s also been on WA radio for half his life, which you would assume would give him an unparalleled knowledge of music and broadcasting. Sadly, this is not the case, hence him working on Spirit.
