No matter how hot she was... (Series of articles)

I’ve seen some horrible movies because of pretty girls. I’m a guy, I know I won’t be happy if she’s not, so every now and then there have to be negotiations to decide what’s going to be on the TV, and if I’ll ever see her naked again. One year on Valentine’s day, I saw “He’s just not that into you”. One hungover Sunday I saw “Maid In Manhattan” on the proviso we watched Star Wars naked after that. I don’t think I ever got my end of that bargain. They’re a crafty bunch those women....

My point is that while these were tolerable movies (just), if it wasn’t for a girl involved, I never would have seen them. But there are some movies that have such a horrible preview, that I will never EVER see them. Now I’ve been wrong about previews before, and have swallowed my pride and admitted it. I quipped after seeing the preview for Inception that it should have been named “Look At What we Can Do With Computers!” The egg on my face, as Inception was brilliant and went on to make a zillion dollars. But some times I think it’s very safe to judge a book (movie) by it’s cover (preview).

There’s a trap here though, and that’s being labeled a movie snob. “These movies are so beneath me that I refuse to see them”, and that’s a fair point. In the past I’ve bagged out movies that I’ve never seen, and in some cases that’s just not fair. I’ve never see the Twilight Saga (seriously? Saga?), and I’m sure I’ll hate it, but a whole heap of people like it, so to be fair, I’ll get round to seeing it, just so I can bring an actual argument to the table. At the moment my argument is “let’s take an idea that’s hundreds of years old and market it to tweens, that should make it more awesome surely. Oh and let’s make them sparkle”. See I’m right, but my argument sort of ends there.
I know I’d be upset if someone was bagging Star Wars without having seen any of the real Saga (Twilight Saga? Please, don’t even talk to me. Breath in, see it, then bag it)
